Al Franken Senate Race - Minnesota

Republican Norm Coleman has won a second term in the U.S. Senate, surviving a strong challenge from former comedian Al Franken (shown in Photo).

Coleman zoomed past Franken by the narrowest of margins: a few hundred votes with nearly 2.8 million cast. The margin is guaranteed to trigger a recount.

If the margin holds up, Coleman would be among the few lucky Republicans who survived big gains by Democrats countrywide.

In a normal year, a comedian like Al Franken with similar stature to television’s Al Bundy (Married with Children Show) would never be considered a serious Senate candidate, but this is no normal year.

Al was a comedy writer for SNL and even appeared on the show.

Below is a video on his appearance on David Letterman's late night show.
